Consciousness and Climate Change earth-for-web

Considering issues such as climate change and sustainability within a spiritual framework and highlighting the inner dimension of the decisions facing the United Nations (UN) member states, is one of the contributions of the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University (BKWSU) to the UN community.

Our premise is: What the world needs at this time is a profound shift in awareness – a shift in the thinking that is producing our current environmental crisis.  Expanding the climate change conversation to include the inner spiritual dimension will transform the quality of the conversation and create a possible agenda for action among stakeholders.

As the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in his address on sustainability at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland in January 2011:

“What we need at this time . . . is a revolution.
Revolutionary thinking. Revolutionary action.”

Spiritual Framework

At the core of the Brahma Kumaris’ work is the understanding of the connection among awareness, attitude, vision, action, and the world.  All real change – big changes in the word and small changes in a single life – occurs as a sequence of subtle shifts, beginning with a change in awareness.
