For years, Mount Abu, nestled in Rajasthan’s Aravali range, has been a source of solace to innumerable tourists and worshippers, who throng the hill station for its rich flora and fauna and world-famous Dilwara temples. Now, to protect the area from further ecological degradation caused by rapid urbanisation and irregular tourist inflow, the government has recently notified the hotspot as an “eco-sensitive zone.”

The area has become out of bounds for mining and industries that can potentially pollute the region, and no construction will be allowed without permission from the authorities in the area spread over 325 sq km. Read the rest of this entry

From 23rd to 26th of June 2010 there was a special ’spiritual marathon’ at Siberian land on the south-east of Russia. BK Sudha, Bro. Vijay and a few more BKs from Moscow, Novosibirsk and Irkutsk have done spiritual service to this area. Every day there were several events including media interviews, meetings with local officials, environmentalists and business people, public programs and meetings with general public etc. The main topic was a connection between human consciousness and environment: how can we purify nature by purifying our own thoughts and attitudes.

The sacred lake Baikal, that is considered to be a wonder of nature, welcomed the group of spiritual servers at its shores. The deepest and the most ancient lake on Earth which contains 20% of the world sweet lake water is now under the threat of pollution.
